ELA:

This week we will be diving into two new books! The first is a picture book that all students can access through their class link Epic App. The book is titled The Scarlet Stocking Spy. The story is about a patriot family and how they help George Washington during the American Revolution. The students will see the story through the eyes of the main character, Maddy Rose.

The second book we will be reading is titled Woods Runner. This book is about a boy named Samuel and his family who gets kidnapped after an ambush by the British soldiers and Iroquois Indians. Samuel meets many people, see's the effects of the war on others, and experiences many challenges on his journey to rescue his family from the British. Gary Paulsen had done an amazing job presenting this story while also including factual information. For this book, all students will be diving deeper into the text through a literature circle. Each day studnets will be given a task to complete in small groups after listening to the text read aloud.

Social Studies:

Over the next two weeks, we will be piecing together all of the information we have learned about the American Revolution by putting the events onto a timeline. Students will start to see the connections between English events and how the Colonies reacted. They will also start learning about the major battles that took place which ended up leading to freedom from England.
