ELA:
Final Assessment Week
This week students will be working on their final writing piece for their first unit. Through two paragraphs, students will show me what they have learned about what it means to have a great heart figuratively as well as literally, providing evidence to support their claims. Due to this being an assessment, I do not want the students working on this material at home. Their assessment will be typed on google classroom but I am going to give them enough time in class to complete this assignment. I am confident all students will do wonderfully with this assessment as they have been working hard this quarter on finding evidence to support their answer.
Social Studies
Last week, students took their assessment on map skills, map features, and human-made versus natural features. Quizzes went home Friday for Mrs. Burre's homeroom and they will go home today (Monday) for my homeroom class. Each student completed a reflection piece to identifying if they got the question correct or if they didn't. If they didn't get the correct answer, they listed the reason why. Check your child's purple folder for their assessments and reflections.
This week, we will be diving into Ancient People of Ohio. This will include the study of Paleo and Archaic Indians all the way to Prehistoric Indian groups that lived throughout Ohio. Once we learn enough background information, students will be participating in a project to teach each other about their Indian group. More information on this to come.
E&I time:
Students who qualify for Tier 2 and Tier 1 intervention will now be given support in the classroom instead of going to the RTI resource room. Due to this change, students will be doing things a little bit differently during our E&I block. Mrs. Burre and I will be mixing homerooms and having specific stations that each child must visit at a specific time. Also, when they are not at a station, they will be working on a choice board. On this choice board, there will be enrichment activities as well as extra practice activities for all subjects (ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies). Students will start this new schedule today and it will continue throughout the rest of the school year.
Students who qualify for tier 3 are the only individuals that will be visiting the RTI resource room for intervention.
